Troubleshoot Mac OS X Lion installation error
Apple Inc has released the latest version of its operating system Mac OSX 10.7 (Lion). The Mac users, who are using earlier version of Mac OS, are now trying to upgrade to Mac OS X Lion. But some of the users have experienced problem in upgrading their system. When you try to install Mac OSX 10.7 in your Mac computer, the computer fails to install Mac OS. You might also receive error message like “Mac OS X cannot be installed on "Macintosh HD", because this disk cannot be used to start up your computer". The error appears after you select your hard disk that comes up with a yellow triangle and exclamation point.
You might be asked to select which disk to use for installation in which the disk may be labeled as “This disk cannot be used to start up your computer”. When you reboot and reattempt to install, the same result appears again. This is a critical error with Mac computer. There are many reasons of the error such as there is PGP program installed in your hard disk, the Mac OS Lion installer may have detected a small discrepancy in the partition table of the drive that is causing the error 'disk cannot be used to start up your computer'.
Resolution of the Mac installation error:
In order to fix Mac installation error, you need to rewrite the partition table without formatting the drive. If it doesn't work then you need to format the drive and reinstall the operating system. Before formatting or repartition your disk, you need to make backup of your data. In case, you are unable to backup your data then you will need Mac data recovery software. The software recovers all the lost data like videos, documents, audios, photos etc from formatted or corrupted Mac hard drives. Take a look on steps to repartition the drive:
- Reboot your computer from Lion DVD and select your language
- Launch 'Disk Utility' from the 'Utilities' menu
- Select your boot device
- Select the 'Partition' tab
- Click drag the resize corner of the partition
- Click on Apply
After you have partitioned, quit Disk Utility and start OS X Lion installation.
