Resolution of Windows XP displays Disk Error
The error generally appears if you attempt to install Windows without formatting the partition. Apple Inc provides Boot Camp utility with Mac OS X 10.5. This utility assist you in installing Microsoft Windows operating system on Intel based Mac computers. You can use this utility to create, delete or resize Mac partitions. If you don't format the created partition for Windows installation, Windows XP displays disk error message. You must have to format the partition before you proceed to start XP setup process. - Restart your Macintosh computer
- Run 'Startup Manager' (To do this hold down the 'Option' key during reboot)
- When 'Startup Manager' appears, select a Mac OS X volume
- Start 'Boot Camp Assistant'
- Select option 'Create or Remove a Windows Partition'
- Click on 'Restore'
- Start again the 'Boot Cam Assistant'
- create a Windows partition with sufficient size
- Insert Windows install disc and start installation
- Now format the Windows partition which is named 'BOOTCAMP' before the setup begins
- Follow the instruction to install Windows XP
Make sure that you have not selected the option “Leave the current file system intact (no changes)” or “Convert the partition to NTFS” options. If you do so, you may again come up with Windows displays disk error message issues. After successfully installation, you can use Windows XP in your Macintosh computer.
